Baypark Speedway 2024-25 Season

Meeting 11 Preview:  Season Finale and Demolition Der-Bay – Saturday April 19, 2025.

Four classes competing for Bay of Plenty Championship honours plus the always popular demolition derby entertainment will bring the 2024-25 season to the chequered flag at Baypark Speedway on Easter Saturday.

Among the highlights of the season finale is the return of the V8-powered Super Saloon Cars for their BOP title night, headlined by a quality line-up of Baypark’s own racers including former NZ champions Chris Cowling, Steve Cowling and Sam Waddell.

Recently crowned NZ Grand Prix champ Damian Orr and 3NZ Scott Hayward will also be strong contenders through the title format of two heats and a 20-lap feature.

Visitors include Aucklanders Craig Cardwell and Ben Harding plus Manawatu racers Peter Bengston and Brendan Sharland, while Kihikihi racer Tim de Graaf lines up at Baypark for the first time following his runner-up finish at the NZ GP earlier this month.

A 28-strong Stock Car grid has BOP title honours at stake with visitors from Rotorua, Stratford, Kihikihi, Auckland and Gisborne tracks providing competition for the Baypark regulars over a three-race points format.

There’s also open wheel title action with the BOP Six Shooter Championship while the bonus for the Easter weekend finale is the addition of Sprint Cars – making a second attempt to decide the BOP Championship after it wasn’t completed at the most recent meeting.

Once the titles have been decided at rapid pace the focus switches to a battle of survival when the annual Demolition Der-bay takes the green flag. A field of 32 drivers have prepared cars to take the hits looking turn scrap into some cash.
