When did you start racing and how did you get into it?

Started racing youth ministocks back in 2000. It was just going to be the inevitable really, with the old man racing before I was born, it’s in the blood I guess haha

What are you most proud of in your racing career?

Probably doing as well as we do on the budget we go racing with, in the end we pretty much do all the work in house from engine to chassis work etc.

What titles have you received while racing?

So far for big wins nationally I don’t have one but my closest was a 2nd at the North Island stockcars few season back. Lots of local championships and club points wins over all classes over the years.

What is your all-time favourite track to race at and why?

Rotorua, good hard fast stockcar track, had some of my best results there.

What are you currently doing in the off-season and how do you prepare mentally and physically for this sport?

A lot of my spare time I’m rebuilding/building a bunch of competitors motors, so doesn’t leave me much time to get into shape, between family time and rebuilding motors I try get some fresh air mountain biking

What do you hope to achieve next season?

Run well in the major champ meetings, hopefully be a part of the busters again and just have fun!

What characteristics do you think are important to becoming successful in racing?

Time in the garage, race car prep and understanding how the race car works plus just seat time.

What is happening with your car in the off-season any major changes we should look out for once the season starts?

Nothing at the moment, just have some general steel work to sort out before season starts but happy with the new car.

Speedway racing can be fast and dangerous, looking out toward the fans, what do you think is one thing the fans will never understand until they are behind the wheel of a race car?

Just the instant adrenaline you get from going fast!

What is your favourite race on the NZ race calendar?

Obviously the major championship meetings, 240s and teams champs

Who do you admire most in motorsport and why?

Probably my dad, from watching him race, to being my number one supporter.

Let’s talk about Baypark Speedway,

  • What made you decide to run the Mighty M?
  • Dad raced for years with a M and its home for me too.
  • What do you think of the changes and the way direction the speedway is moving?
  • I think it is good, I think the track improvements have made a big difference also social media side as well.
  • What would you like to see improve for both the speedway and your class?
  • More interaction with spectators and kids on the night and leading up to meetings.

Tell us about your sponsors, what kind of business they run and the support you get from them.

All my sponsors are a huge part of the team and some have been there right from the start, so super grateful for their support!

We know sponsors play a big part but so do crews and families, tell us about your support team?

The crew, big thanks to them Dad, Nick and Jaylem they are always there on race nights and in the shed just getting it done, can’t do it without them.

My partner Laura does a super job looking after our 3 kids and holding down the house while I go chase my dream!

And everyone else that helps out along the way, its all a huge help in the end.

Final words …… What would you like to say to your fans and the wider speedway community?

Just keep coming and support your local tracks, support our sponsors and come say hi in the pits.
