When did you start racing and how did you get into it?

My dad worked for Aussie V8s and then moved on to Indy lights so of course I was going to be involved. He got me my first dirt bike when I was 2 years old with training wheels. I started racing ministocks at 12 years old.

What classes have you run over the years?

Ministocks, Six Shooters and now Sprintcars.

What are you most proud of in your racing career?

I am proud of qualifying 8th fastest in the time trails at Baypark Speedway aswell as gaining all top 10 feature finishes this past season.

What titles have you received while racing?

None

What is your all-time favourite track to race at and why?

Baypark Speedway is my favourite track because of the space and speed of the track. It has also been a great learning track for me in my racing career.

What are you currently doing in the off-season and how do you prepare mentally and physically for this sport?

Me and my dad have just stripped the Sprintcar down and sent it to the sandblasters. I have been busy the last few months trying to get more sponsorship on board for the 2022/2023 season.

For preparing mentally and physically for the upcoming season I have signed up to the gym to get fit and build strength in my neck muscles.

What do you hope to achieve next season?

My goal for next season is to aim for a podium finish aswell as top 5 feature finishes. The goal for next season was to have a faster motor so I can officially beat these god damn boys.

What characteristics do you think are important to becoming successful in racing?

I think being respectful and appreciative of the people supporting and helping you in your racing journey is number one as well as being competitive.

What is happening with your car in the off-season any major changes we should look out for once the season starts?

We are hoping to have some new sponsors on board as well as my existing ones. Legends!!!

Speedway racing can be fast and dangerous, looking out toward the fans, what do you think is one thing the fans will never understand until they are behind the wheel of a race car?

How fast Sprintcars actually are. How quick we have to be with our reactions. How much fun they are!!!!

What is your favourite race on the NZ race calendar?

I love every race. If I had to choose it would be NZ Sprintcar Champs or Harrisville weekend

Who do you admire most in motorsport and why?

Scott Dixon. He has won pretty much every title he has entered in before he moved to the next class. (Unbelievable resume). As well as a 5 time IndyCar champion. The man is a legend.

Let’s talk about Baypark Speedway,

  • What made you decide to run the Mighty M?

I think Baypark has unbelievable facilities for a dirt track. It was a great learning track for me.

  • What do you think of the changes and the way direction the speedway is moving?

It’s hard to say at the moment. We will have to wait and see what next season brings.

  • What would you like to see improve for both the speedway and your class?
  • It would be awesome to get the fans more involved, therefore bringing the crowds back every race.
  • Keep up the good track prep.

Tell us about your sponsors, what kind of business they run and the support you get from them.

  • Pacific Toyota: Toyota Car Dealership
  • Tradezone Holmes Industrial Supplies: (tools, bearings, nuts and bolts, welders etc)
  • Robertsons Menswear: Sells all things men’s clothing.
  • Anton Julian: Has been supporting me since day one.
  • Grandad: Has been supporting me since day one.

We know sponsors play a big part but so do crews and families, tell us about your support team?

I am so lucky to have such an amazing support team. My mum and dad are my biggest supporters. Followed by my crew who are Blouse, Dale, Tim, Gary, Paul, Glenys and Shelley.  These guys make sure everything is up to speed on and off the track as well as supporting me 100%.

Final words …… What would you like to say to your fans and the wider speedway community?

Make sure you guys all come down and say hello next season. You are welcome to sit in the car and take photos J Looks like Baypark has some good things in store for us next season. So, stay excited!!
