Zoe Pearce, the rising star taking the Midget Car racing in Australia by storm.

Zoe made her debut at Baypark, on opening night, thrilling fans with her talent and determination. Recently she also competed at the BT Race for Mates at Western Springs Speedway, she’s gained valuable seat time and experience on both tracks now, just in time to represent Australia in this season’s highly anticipated Midget World Series.

Let’s chat with Zoe Pearce

For those new to the sport, Can you share a bit about your background and what inspired you to start racing?

I am a third-generation racer, my Grandfather on my Dads side raced TQs & Midgets, my grandfather on my Mums side raced Midgets & Sprintcars, my Dad raced TQs & Midgets & my Mum was a speedway go kart racer so I was born into the sport you could say!

I started racing Quarter Midgets when I was 5 years old, I moved up to a Junior Formula 500 (Micro Sprint) at the age of 13, I was 16 years old when I had my first drive of a Midget & haven’t looked back since!

What are your impressions of New Zealand, and are there any specific sights or experiences you’re excited to explore while you’re here?

New Zealand is a very pretty country, seeing the countryside on the drive to Baypark is really nice but I can’t say there are any particular sights I’m excited to see, I’m mainly excited about the racing.

This will be your 2nd visit to Baypark Speedway, As you prepare for the Midget World Series, what excites you the most about the competition?

I love that the competition is so tough in NZ! There are no second chances, no one gives you an inch but they still race you fair and clean. Everyone is competitive & runs the best equipment which makes it a challenge to move forward. 

With three unique tracks and some long races ahead, do you have a specific strategy or mindset going into the series?
Nothing in particular, just to give it 110% each night and pace myself for the long races. 

What did you think of your last visit to Baypark Speedway?

We got a good result and had a lot of fun. As I mentioned before I like the tough competition in New Zealand and it was cool to race at an amazing stadium!

How did the deal with you and the Stone family come about?

Charles Smith was the man who made the suggestion to the Stone Family to give me a go, a few phone calls back & forth to put the plans in place & here we are. I am very grateful for this amazing opportunity & hope I can make the team proud!
