Lets Chat With Ethan Mitchell from USA

We had the chance to catch up with rising American star Ethan Mitchell shortly after he touched down in New Zealand, eager and ready for the upcoming World Midget Series. At just 22 years old, this Mooresville, North Carolina native (born January 22, 2002) is already making waves in the racing world. Here’s what Ethan had to say about his plans for the series—and what we’ve learned about this talented young gun.

Can you share a bit about your background and what inspired you to start racing?

Being around the sport, I grew up around dirt bikes and Motorcross with my dad. When we moved to North Carolina we had some friends racing outlaw karts, I had a go and was hooked ever since.

What are your impressions of New Zealand, and are there any specific sights or experiences you’re excited to explore while you’re here?

I love it, it’s an awesome change of pace and scenery from what I’m used to back home. Im excited to do some fishing and hunting with Jordan’s family and friends, I’d like to go to Rotorua and send it down the luge and see the Waitomo Caves

As you prepare for the Midget World Series, what excites you the most about the competition?

I always like a challenge and coming off a season back home it’s always good to see how I stack up on the other side of the world. The racing here is quite different so I’m looking forward to it

With three unique tracks and some long races ahead, do you have a specific strategy or mindset going into the series?

Learn and adapt as quickly as possible. Try my best and finish races.

We noticed back home your car has an M like the cars here at Baypark Speedway, what does the M represent?

        Mitchell

Cars in the States don’t use track codes, and the letters are simply to identify the drivers if multiple numbers that are the same are used, Don’t worry Ethan we are telling everyone it’s for Mount Maunganui!!

Last time, you raced for the Cometti family. How did the opportunity with Jordan and the team come together this time?

Jordan and I became good friends last time I was here, we chat regularly every week and since he was taking a season off he reached out and asked if I’d like to come back and give it another crack.
