The wait is nearly over. In just two months’ time, Baypark Speedway will fire back into life for Labour Weekend — a long weekend in New Zealand that couldn’t be more fitting for the return of high-octane racing. The opening meeting, fittingly titled “Back to the Bay”, tips its hat to the iconic Back to the Future movies while celebrating the fact we’re back in the Bay to launch a brand-new season.
And what a launch it will be. The spotlight is on four of the premier classes — Sprintcars, Midgets, Superstocks, and Super Saloons — all lining up to deliver the first taste of action for 2025/26. Expect fireworks on and off the track as drivers roll out with fresh paint and the hunger to stamp their mark from the very first green flag.

For fans, opening night is more than just the start of a season — it’s a reunion. The grandstands fill with familiar faces, the smell of fuel and hot chips drifts through the air, and the sound of engines echoing across Tauranga signals that summer is here. After months of waiting, the Baypark community comes alive again.
Add in the energy of a long weekend, and “Back to the Bay” promises to be the perfect kick-off — a night where nostalgia, excitement, and speed all collide.
Circle Labour Weekend on your calendar. Baypark is back, and the future starts here.
