The South Pacific Super-Saloon Championship has run for over 40 years split between the old Baypark and the current Baypark Speedway. Baypark and the title have a long history and have seen many super-saloon greats achieve this title. Trevor Gray started this event in 1971 when he took over as promoter of Baypark Speedway. With no championships allocated to Baypark they had only one season with full license prior, and champs were on a roster system. It was won by Dave Waddell, sometime later by his son Dean, and also won by Sam Waddell three years ago.

This event has been won by 3 generations of one family. it’s maybe the longest-running event of any speedway race over all the tracks.
