When asked about last season, Browne couldn’t hide his satisfaction. “Overall, last year we had an unbelievable season,” he shared. “We made incredible progress and achieved our goal of making a podium spot not only once, but four times across the season. We competed hard all year and were consistently among the top eight drivers. We won many awards, and I’m so privileged to have achieved what we have as a team. I couldn’t thank everyone involved with Team TBR enough.”
The Allure of F2 Midget Racing
The F2 class, known for its close, competitive racing, has a special place in Browne’s heart. “What drew me to the F2 class over most is the affordability along with the fierce competitive nature,” he explained. “It’s always struck me over most other forms of racing. It doesn’t matter your engine package, chassis package, or how much money you have—it all comes down to how you race on the night.”

The Huntly track proved to be a formidable challenge for Browne and his team. “Huntly has always been a tough one for me,” Browne admits. “We struggled in the heat races and unfortunately crashed out early in the feature. It was a low point, but every setback is a learning opportunity.” Despite the challenges, Browne maintains a positive outlook, always ready to take lessons from the tough days and apply them to future races.
Adding to the drama of the Huntly race was an unexpected incident with fellow competitor Madison Jones. “If she wanted to get up close and personal, she could have approached me a bit nicer about it!” Browne jokes, reflecting on the light-hearted side of racing. Despite the occasional on-track collision, Browne emphasizes the importance of maintaining a sense of humour and camaraderie among drivers, even in the heat of competition.

Anticipation for the Aotearoa F2 Midget Title
This season, Baypark is hosting the unofficial Aotearoa F2 Midget Title (A1F2), a new challenge that has Browne excited. “I’m beyond excited for this—it’s exactly what the class needs going forward. It’s going to step up the competitive nature to a whole new level. This is going to be a wild event and show what these F2 Midget guys have to offer.” “Having an event like the A1F2 is huge for us,” Browne says. “It’s a chance to showcase the talent and competition within the F2 Midgets on a larger stage. I think it’s going to become a staple event, and it’s going to step up the competitive nature within the class.”
Elevating the F2 Class
Looking to the future, Browne sees plenty of potential for the F2 class. “The class is pretty well run and operated, but I think if we could create more headline events, up our social media and marketing campaigns, and travel all around the country, that would be amazing for the class going forward.”
Staying True to F2, with Eyes on Midgets
While Browne currently has no plans to transition to other SNZ classes, midgets are where his heart lies. “At this stage, I don’t have any plans to transition. If I was to, it would have to be to midgets. My heart has always been with midgets, and it’s been ingrained in me since a young age.”

Browne’s involvement in Speedway is deeply rooted in family tradition. “My dad ran mini sprints at Western Springs before I was born, and my uncles raced in various classes. I was fortunate to crew for Shayne Alach for a few years before starting my racing journey. To be able to share the memories of racing with my old man is something I will cherish forever.”

Browne’s race day routine is all about preparation and focus. “I like to take a long hot shower, get the car ready, and triple-check everything. At the track, headphones go on, and I focus on my job to drive the wheels off it. My team gives me an amazing car every single week, and I always try to provide my best performance.”
For this season, Browne has set his sights on chasing James Earl and securing his first-ever championship. “We’re chasing anything and everything we can!”
