Entries have now closed for the North Island Sprintcar championship to be held at Baypark Speedway on the 10th of December. A record number of 34 teams have registered to represent 5 tracks, 4 from the North and 1 from the South Island.

Kihikihi Speedway will have 6 cars on track with the favourite being the current 3NZ of Daniel Thomas who won the first 2 features at Baypark this season. The Dahm boys will also be a force to reckon with, especially with their knowledge of the Baypark circuit.

The current Bay Piston Cup Champion and also feature winner from Baypark, Dean Brindle will be hard to beat as always, Kihikihi has won all 3 Sprintcar features so far so they have a great chance of walking away with the silverware.

Returning from the United States is Baypark’s promoter’s son Travis Buckley who will also be running the K on the tail tank this season as his number was not available when he went to register with a M.

The lone ranger from the mainland Matthew Leversedge will put on a show for Ruapuna Speedway and is not a competitor to take lightly, he is also one of the only drivers who race both islands frequently which should give him an edge over the competition.

The Auckland attack from Western Springs will be led by current North Island Champion Jamie Larsen, and has a total of 10 entries and a list of former New Zealand Champions including American Jonathan Allard, Jamie McDonald, and Kerry Brocas unfortunately the current NZ Champion Michael Pickens is not registered to run as he will be running in the Midas Midget all stars series.

The hometown heroes will be led by track master Rodney Wood, Daniel Rogers, Syd Fergusson and Colin Entwisle, a total of 15 out of 18 of the Baypark Registered M drivers have entered, giving us high hopes for one of the boys or girls to stand on the podium at the end of the event.

Palmerston North will have young speed racer Dean Cooper flying the flag and he is no slouch when it comes to speed around the track.

The Full entry list will be released early next week but promises to be second to only the nationals which will be held down south this season when it comes to Sprintcar racing.

Also a surprise entry that will get any v8 enthusiast excited is Supercar Champion Shane van Gisbergen who will debut his Sprintcar racing in the United truck parts 97.

The Fan Zone will have the 23M of Kerri-Anne James 85M of Brody Mathieson and the 22k of Dean Brindle for the fans to meet and greet as they enter the stadium.
